Malvin is a neighborhood in the city of Montevideo, capital of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, bordering the Rio de la Plata to the south and the neighborhoods Buceo to the west, Malvin Norte to the north and Punta Gorda to the east.
This residential area, located twenty minutes from downtown, was once a very popular resort for the beauty of its two beaches, Playa Malvin and Playa Honda. Over time, the expansion of the city resulted in a major housing development of the neighborhood, its population increased dramatically to become one of the fastest growing areas of the city.
Among the major attractions of the area we can include the headquarters of the Club Malvin, a major sporting and social institution, and the Isla de las Gaviotas, rock formation a few meters from the coast of Montevideo.
